Feed Your DVR: 9/14/14 to 9/20/14

Sunday, September 14th – Ken Burn’s newest epic, 14-hour miniseries takes on the Roosevelts, telling the interwoven stories of Theodore, Eleanor, and Franklin’s personal and public lives. The first of the seven parts of The Roosevelts: An Intimate Story airs tonight on PBS (8pm, but check local listings), with a new episode every night this week.

Monday, September 15th –  Masterchef is down to its final three, consisting of New York ad executive Elizabeth Cauvel, Pennsylvania ‘aerial dancer’ Courtney Lapresi, and Malibu stay-at-home dad Leslie Gilliams. Watch the two-hour finale tonight on FOX (8pm). For the record, our money is on powerhouse challenge-winner Elizabeth.

Tuesday, September 16th – FOX’s Tuesday night comedy bloc returns. (Hooray for fall TV!) The fourth season of New Girl kicks off at 9pm with the gang all attending a wedding, and trying very hard not to go home alone. Guest star Jessica Biel competes with Jess for the attentions of other guest star Reid Scott. Meanwhile, over on The Mindy Project, Mindy & Danny start the third season as a real couple, but will they be able to make it work? (9:30pm)

Wednesday, September 17th – The Top Chef empire keeps expanding, including this summer’s Top Chef: Duels. The show banks on our affection for former contestants and celebrity chef Curtis Stone – but if that isn’t enough to get you watching, maybe tonight’s guest appearance by the cast of Brooklyn Nine-Nine will be. (Bravo, 10pm)

Thursday, September 18th – Two of my favorite under-the-radar summer shows wrap up tonight. On Sundance’s The Honorable Woman, a final rescue mission will determine Nessa and Kasim’s fate on what was the smartest show on television so far this year. Revisit all our coverage here. (10pm) Over on FX, see if Jimmy & Gretchen can stop being scared long enough to see that they’re perfect for each other on You’re the Worst, the summer’s best-kept comic secret (10:30pm).

Friday, September 19th – A slow television night for sure, but The Knick is hitting its stride, and this is the episode that had critics buzzing early. (Cinemax, 10pm, and about a thousand more times if you miss that.)

Saturday, September 20thOutlander‘s episode this evening is called “The Wedding.” Seeing as Claire is already married, and not particularly keen on staying in 1743 besides, this episode is a must-watch, especially for fans of Jamie. (Starz, 9pm)
